Victor Chang

Brief Bio
Prof. Victor Chang is a Senior Associate Professor, Director of Ph.D. (June 2016 – May 2018) and Director of MRes at International Business School Suzhou (IBSS), Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), Suzhou, China, since June 2016. He is also a very active and contributing key member at Research Institute of Big Data Analytics (RIBDA), XJTLU. He's an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Liverpool and Visiting Researcher at the University of Southampton, UK. Previously he worked as a Senior Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University, UK, for 3.5 years. Within 4 years, he completed Ph.D. (CS, Southampton) and PGCert (Higher Education, Fellow, Greenwich) while working for several projects at the same time. Before becoming an academic, he has achieved 97% on average in 27 IT certifications. He won a European Award on Cloud Migration in 2011, IEEE Outstanding Service Award in 2015, best papers in 2012 and 2015, the 2016 European award: Best Project in Research, 2016 SEID Excellent Scholar, Suzhou, China, Outstanding Young Scientist award in 2017, 2017 special award on Data Science, 2017 and 2018 INSTICC Service Awards and numerous awards since 2012. He is a visiting scholar/Ph.D. examiner at several universities, an Editor-in-Chief of IJOCI & OJBD journals, Editor of FGCS, Associate Editor of TII, founding chair of two international workshops and founding Conference Chair of IoTBDS http://www.iotbd.org and COMPLEXIS http://www.complexis.org since Year 2016. He was involved in different projects worth more than £12.5 million in Europe and Asia. He has published 3 books as sole authors and the editor of 2 books on Cloud Computing and related technologies. He gave 16 keynotes at international conferences. He is widely regarded as one of the most active and influential young scientist and expert in IoT/Data Science/Cloud/security/AI/IS, as he has experience to develop 10 different services for multiple disciplines. Gary Wills

Dr. Gary Wills is an Associate Professor in Computer Science at the University of Southampton. He graduated from the University of Southampton with an Honours degree in Electromechanical Engineering, and then a PhD in Industrial Hypermedia Systems. He is a Chartered Engineer, a member of the Institute of Engineering Technology and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Educational Academy. He is also a visiting associate professor at the University of Cape Town and a research professor at RLabs. Gary's research centres around Secure System Engineering, focusing on Industrial systems, Cloud and IoT.

Dr. Víctor Méndez Muñoz has a main background in big data management and distributed systems. He participated in scientific international projects in physics and bioinformatics like AGATA, LHCb, ENRM and EISCAT, collaborating with several more. Currently, he is Head of Software Development at Mind the Byte, a bioinformatics company specializing in computational drug discovery using a pay-per-use SaaS platform (Software as a Service). He also works in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) as a part time professor. He has also contributed to several industry leading benchmarks including the world’s first 100 TB Spark-SQL TPC-DS benchmarks.

Schahram Dustdar

Schahram Dustdar is Full Professor of Computer Science and head of The Distributed Systems Group at the TU Wien, Austria. From 2004-2010 he was also Honorary Professor of Information Systems at the Department of Computing Science at the University of Groningen (RuG), The Netherlands. From Dec 2016 until Jan 2017 he was a Visiting Professor at the University of Sevilla, Spain and from January until June 2017 he was a Visiting Professor at UC Berkeley, USA. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, ACM Transactions on the Web, and ACM Transactions on Internet Technology, and on the editorial board of IEEE Internet Computing and IEEE Computer. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Computing (Springer). Dustdar an IEEE Fellow (2016), a recipient of the ACM Distinguished Scientist award (2009), and the IBM Faculty Award (2012). Dr. Hamido Fujita, is a professor at Iwate Prefectural University(IPU), Iwate, Japan. He is the director of Intelligent Software Laboratory. He worked at Tohoku University as visiting Professor on late eighties, and then joined University of Tokyo, RCAST as Associate Professor, and then he moved to Canada, as visiting Professor at the University of Montreal. Then after he joined Iwate Prefectural University (IPU), Faculty of Software and Information Science, Iwate, Japan, as professor and head of Information System Division. He is directing at IPU two laboratories, Intelligent Software Laboratory and Cognitive Systems Laboratory. Also, he is the founder of SOMET organization. He has supervised Ph.D students jointly with University of Laval, University Technology, Syndey(UTS), He is also Professor at the University of Laval, Quebec, Canada supervising Graduate Studies students, he was a visiting Professor at the University of Paris_1, Sorbonne, 2003~2004. He worked as opponent for Stockholm University, Sweden co-supervised students. He also worked with UTS Sydney, Australia, co-supervised Ph.D students. He published books in IOS press. Péter Kacsuk

Professor Peter Kacsuk is the Head of the Research Laboratory of the Parallel and Distributed Systems. He received his MSc and university doctorate degrees from the Technical University of Budapest in 1976 and 1984, respectively. He received the kandidat degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1989. He habilitated at the University of Vienna in 1997. He recieved his professor title from the Hungarian President in 1999 and the Doctor of Academy degree (DSc) from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2001. He has been a part-time full professor at the Cavendish School of Computer Science of the University of Westminster in London and at the Eötvös Lóránd University of Science in Budapest since 2001. He served as visiting scientist or professor several times at various universities of Austria, England, Germany, Spain, Australia and Japan. He has published two books, two lecture notes and more than 200 scientific papers on parallel computer architectures, parallel software engineering and Grid computing. Yi-ke Guo

Yike Guo is a Professor of Computing Science in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London. He is the founding Director of the Data Science Institute at Imperial College, as well as leading the Discovery Science Group in the department. Professor Guo also holds the position of CTO of the tranSMART Foundation, a global open source community using and developing data sharing and analytics technology for translational medicine. Professor Guo received a first-class honours degree in Computing Science from Tsinghua University, China, in 1985 and received his PhD in Computational Logic from Imperial College in 1993 under the supervision of Professor John Darlington. He founded InforSense, a software company for life science and health care data analysis, and served as CEO for several years before the company's merger with IDBS, a global advanced R&D software provider, in 2009. He has been working on technology and platforms for scientific data analysis since the mid-1990s, where his research focuses on knowledge discovery, data mining and large-scale data management. He has contributed to numerous major research projects including: the UK EPSRC platform project, Discovery Net; the Wellcome Trust-funded Biological Atlas of Insulin Resistance (BAIR); and the European Commission U-BIOPRED project. He is currently the Principal Investigator of the European Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) eTRIKS project, a €23M project that is building a cloud-based informatics platform, in which tranSMART is a core component for clinico-genomic medical research, and co-Investigator of Digital City Exchange, a £5.9M research programme exploring ways to digitally link utilities and services within smart cities. Professor Guo has published over 200 articles, papers and reports. Chung-Sheng Li is currently the director of the Commercial Systems Department, PI for the IBM Research Cloud Initiatives, and the executive sponsor of the Security 2.0 strategic initiative. He has been with IBM T.J. Watson Research Center since May 1990. His research interests include cloud computing, security and compliance, digital library and multimedia databases, knowledge discovery and data mining, and data center networking. He has authored or coauthored more than 130 journal and conference papers and received the best paper award from IEEE Transactions on Multimedia in 2003. He is both a member of IBM Academy of Technology and a Fellow of the IEEE. Anna Kobusinska received her M.Sc. and PhD degrees in computer science from Poznan University of Technology, in 1999 and 2006, respectively. She currently works as an Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Computing Systems, Institute of Computing Science, Poznan University of Technology, Poland. Her research interests include large-scale distributed systems, service-oriented and cloud computing. She focuses on distributed algorithms, Big Data analysis, replication and consistency models, as well as fault-tolerance, specifically checkpointing and rollback recovery techniques.
She has served and is currently serving as a PC member of several international conferences and workshops. She is also author and co-author of many publications in high quality peer reviewed international conferences and journals. She participated to various research projects supported by national organizations and by EC in collaboration with academic institutions and industrial partners.
